Yet Another Election Post

November 5th, 2008 by Carl Thomas.

Can you stand one more election post? I have several things I want to post about this election but only have time for a few today.  For the record, I believe many of the prophecies that were spoken about this election, unfortunately almost all of them were interpreted wrongly.  That is for another time.  However, there are several posts I would like to highlight from around the web.

My friend Dr. Michael Davis writes,

Third, let the healing begin and inspire him to rise up and be an agent of reconciliation and unity.

The country has great needs and I hope roadblock politics will not categorize the minority policy and that brute force politics will not categorize the majority party. Abortion is a no compromise issue, but there are a lot of other things that we can compromise on and I hope that we do.

Pastor Chris Elrod writes,

Our missioin is still the same today as it was yesterday…reach people far from God with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and lead them into a growing relationship with Him.  My post election thought is this…if we as the Church do what God has called us to do…then it will help to make President Obama’s job a little easier in the days to come!

Hear that church!  We are not a political party.

Pyromaniacs, a blog I never read, writes about the doom and gloom pronouncements if the outcome did not come out right,

I mean: how can we call the Gospel “good news” if we think that somehow the outcome of a human vote can leave us without hope? How good could it be if a mere ideology or ballot process renders it somehow weakened or can overcome it?

Today, God says to His church, “I love you.” And now it is our place to be beloved and act like a beloved people. We should remember that God’s love is a hard act to follow, and that it is where our hope actually lies.

Wade Burleson deals with the fruit of the hate mongering this election.  Pretty Good read.

Eric Redmond writes,

The question for me at this time is this: Can I continue to live Soli Deo Gloria under a President whose moral judgment already is questionable before he takes the oath of office? Yes I can, for I can be obedient to Scripture, praying for the one in authority (1 Tim. 2:1-8), honoring the one in authority (1 Pet. 2:13-18), submitting to the one in authority (Rom. 13:1-7; Tit. 3:1), and seeking righteousness for the entire citizenry (Prov. 14:34). These I will seek to do by grace. I will “honor the good appointment of God.”

This morning I was taken back to what I wrote two years ago when the Democrats made great gains in congress,

There is one hope for this country and that is Jesus Christ.  If more churches realized that the only way this country is going to be transformed for His glory is by open revival there would be more fasting and less glad handing.

Preacher, your church needs less voter guides and more prayer meetings.  We don’t need to learn more about the founding fathers, we need to learn more about tarrying at the altar.
