Utter Confusion
November 7th, 2007 by Carl Thomas.I wonder how many forms of Christianity are really Christian. I know the call of God is without repentance but when are you no longer actually a minister? I don’t ask these questions lightly.
Lots of folks have no problem questioning the ministry of Al Sharpton. I personally have never heard him refer to Jesus yet he goes by the title Rev. Likewise Jessee Jackson carries the same title yet his methods of shaking down corporations in exchange for a ghetto pass are lost on me. While not illegal, I can’t really find it in the Bible.
Today Rudy Giuliani got an endorsement from Pat Robertson. Now, in case you forgot, Mr. Robertson said on his broadcast that Katrina was God’s wrath revealed because of legalized abortion. Has God repented of that wrath? Apparently there are larger threats on God’s mind.
€œIt is my pleasure to announce my support for America€™s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, a proven leader who is not afraid of what lies ahead and who will cast a hopeful vision for all Americans,€ Pat Robertson said in a statement issued by the Giuliani campaign. €œRudy Giuliani took a city that was in decline and considered ungovernable and reduced its violent crime, revitalized its core, dramatically lowered its taxes, cut through a welter of bureaucratic regulations, and did so in the spirit of bipartisanship which is so urgently needed in Washington today.€
Terrorism and tax breaks are more important to the Omnipotent God than abortion. While abortion is not the end all be all of my politics, as a minister I would have a pretty hard time endorsing Giuliani.
Might I remind the reader that America’s mayor committed a biblically worse offense than America’s President around the same time. Robertson said Clinton’s failure caused a “moral crisis” for which he should resign. It would seem that Giuliani’s “hopeful vision” for another wife during his wife’s chemo makes him a proven leader, not afraid of the wrath of God that lies ahead. Vote for him if you like, but for Robertson to publicly endorse him? We can really only come to one of three conclusions:
- You are a false prophet based on the importance you said abortion was to God in the past when you spoke in His name.
- Your prophesies were true but you do not care what is important to God and are encouraging others to do things contrary to the will of God. This is open rebellion to the revealed word of God to which God will reveal hurricane Katrina sized wrath based upon your faith in His retaliation in this age.
- You have completely lost your good senses. To which we should join with atheists over the ages in hopes that you will retire from public life.
