The Mission Baptism

May 28th, 2008 by Carl Thomas.

We had our third preview service Friday night. We were planning on that being our last but we still do not have a location so please keep that in prayer. We had lots of visitors and one girl got baptized in the Holy Ghost. Almost all of the issues we wanted to work out got worked out so I really feel like we are ready to launch.

The next day (Saturday) we had our first baptism. We were planning on baptizing three people. A girl who got saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost at The Mission. A guy who wanted to rededicate himself and my son.

I have seen kids baptized at four and I can’t comment against that but I decided that I would baptize my son when he asked to get baptized. I told him we were having a baptism and he said he wanted to get baptized. Some would question if you can be saved at seven. The boy is baptized in the Holy Ghost. If that ain’t evidence enough I don’t know what would be.

In any event, I had a little bible study before the baptism and a girl who came to watch got saved and was the second one baptized! Jesus truly is alive. Here is a little video of the events.

    My daughter got saved at 3 and spirit-filled at 5. That is no joke. She was speaking in tongues and casting out demons (that kinda happens when you are single and have to take the kid with you to minister…) She was water-baptized at her request when she was 6. She had a guardian angel that manifested as a lion and please believe nothing got near her. She was one scary child.

    The interesting thing is that every year or so she would come up with the I’m not saved thing and want to get saved. The Lord explained to me that as different parts of her brain came on line, she was bringing those parts of her being into submission to him, but she didn’t have language to convey what she was feeling, so the best she could come up with was she needed to get saved again.

    I’ve often thought of that as I watch young Christians struggle to bring their lives into full submission to the Lord.

    @Shawn, thanks bro.

    @ Patsy - I don’t allow my kids to get involved in spirityual warfare only because I have not any kids who were able to faight the ensuing attacks, though I am not saying it can’t be done. It seems that IHOP has that as part of their DNA.

    I find it really cool to allow the Holy Ghost to work these convictions in my children, don’t you?

    Absolutely!

    My kid did spiritual warfare out of necessity. Mom has a panache for attracting the notice of witches and covens, so she really didn’t have much choice in the matter. That is why she has a angel she can see, I believe. Not much gets past him…

    I believe that children are incredibly sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit and if adults will listen to them, they bring an amazing insight into things that are going on. They see with simplicity and clarity, and have an ability to cut to the chase that is charming and informative.

    I took my daughter with me to Charlotte for a Morningstar Conference. I received prophetic ministry, but the team latched on to her (she was 5 at the time)and spoke into her life. One of the things they spoke to her about what that she would have incredible authority over witchcraft and she would have the authority to speak to storms and tornados and they would dissipate.

    We got home and had a huge outreach scheduled for one of the really hard to reach groups on campus. They agreed to come to a BBQ with the church. The day of this, it was like a hurricane. My daughter really liked these kids and wanted them to come. So Miss 5 year old marches out on the porch and rebukes this storm - 7 times. It left. Well, it actually left for about a 4 mile circle. It was still howling in every direction around us. The kids came, we had a BBQ and God ministered to a group of totally unsaved girls.

    Someone asked her about it and she said, “I have authority over storms.” They tried to correct her about it, that it was Jesus who had authority, and she said, “No, it’s mine. He gave it to me.” And the Lord spoke to me at that moment and said, “Pay attention to your daughter. When I give you something, it belongs to you.”

    Kids have an incredible contribution to make to our fellowships, if we will just listen to them.
