Stuff I Think

Have you ever noticed that “Sola Scriptura” is not actually in the Bible?

That makes me giggle.

Have you ever voiced the fact that people who have a “high view of Scripture” and are cessationists are as biblicly liberal as the MCC?

That also makes me giggle.

I don’t know if I like the stuff or the giggle better. ;-) Interesting point on the cessationist and the homosexual church. Am I getting it with– they both pick and choose what scriptural practice they want to end due to their desire to support/protect their practice?

The homosexual says that the anti-homosexual scriptures are no longer applicable. The were for a different time.

So to do the cessationists. They say that some scripture is no longer valid.

    Both are biblical liberals.

“Have you ever voiced the fact that people who have a “high view of Scripture” and are cessationists are as biblicly liberal as the MCC?”

That’s a wonderfully ironic observation. I almost wonder, however, if the same accusation can be said against the majority of Pentecostals & Charismatics regarding their view of women in ministry (which I do condone, mind you).

@will I hear you on that one. I myself have wondered about that and a few others. I am attend an AG church (but am licensed by another organization).

The AG finds it clear that women can hold any position (though the entire leadership of the national staff and almost every church is men) yet say that ministers must never drink a sip of wine for any reason (though Jesus made, drank, and told his disciples to drink it in remembrance of Him).

But we are making fun of them right now, not us.

    Carl,
That would be an interesting post, don’t you think: Scriptural inconsistensies in the practice of Bible toting movements. Bet that would cause a stir and get some comments! ;-)

wonder who died and left them in charge of who decides what scriptures are for today or not???????

I read a small book one time titled “On Whose Authority?” On the cover there were a bloody pair of scissors cutting up the scriptures.
