New Wine Testimony

April 19th, 2006 by Carl Thomas.
I am on the new Wine mailing list. Lots of good stuf comes through that. Some not so great stuff also But I didn€™t say that. Here is a great testimony that really blessed me:

Today my 8 year old son came home from school and told me that a 7 year old boy was asking him questions about creation. They were riding home on the school bus. The boy was confused about the differences between the big bang theory and my son€™s biblical account. My son said he talked softly because he didn€™t want to embarass his older sister. He explained how God made the world, and that before God spoke, there was nothing.
In July of 2005 we went to a creation museum in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Since my children attend public school, it had a HUGE impact on my son. We bought a children€™s book about dinosaurs and creation - that helped defend creation from a scientific and biblical perspective.
I told my son he should bring that book and share it with his friend on the bus.
My son laughed and said it was like he was preaching a sermon to this little boy. I asked if he knew what it is called when we talk about God with someone. He didn€™t. I told him that it is witnessing. Then I gave him examples of times when I have witnessed when he was present. I also told him that when God sets up times and places for us to witness, and we start talking about Him, the bible says the Holy Spirit will come on us with power - He will give us the words to say - and He will touch us.
Then my son shared that on the bus today he got a tingling feeling across the middle of his body while he was talking to the 7 year old boy. He said it€™s like you have an itch, but when you go to scratch it, you realize it€™s on the INSIDE - and it€™s not really an itch.
I described to him the places where I feel this (the anointing) on my head, shoulders and ears (touching his head shoulders and ears as I spoke). He was playing a game on the table, not looking at me. I also told him how my hands get hot sometimes, and how my hands were tingling after church yesterday.
Then he looked at me and said sometimes his hands get hot too, during church, during the sermon or when we are singing worship songs. I told him to tell me whenever that happens. I also told him that my hands get hot sometimes when I am supposed to pray for somebody. My son said he didn€™t want to interrupt me when I was listening to the message or to God - so I told him its ALWAYS Ok to tell me if God is doing something. My son said that he didn€™t know who to pray for. I told him that if he tells me or another grown-up sitting next to him, we can pray and see if God tells us something.
Then I told him about a child at the Lutheran Renewal Holy Spirit conference in 2005 - my son was there - Rev. Paul Anderson stood behind the boy with his hands on the boy€™s shoulders as the child prophesied over the adults - loudly - passionately - my son heard the whole thing. I told my son that nobody will ask him to stand up on his own as a child - we can be there with him - just like the pastor at the conference - and he can relax and let God do whatever he wants to do. My son liked that.
It is kind of wierd for me to be experiencing new things in the Spirit at the very same time my son is experiencing them too. I guess we are learning together. Cool.
