New Church Plant Idea
January 8th, 2008 by Carl Thomas. What if I decided to launch a ministry and just sought the anointing of God. Could the manifest presence of God coupled with signs and wonders draw people to Jesus?
Just asking.

Great question, but I don’t think this would work since the Lord is raising up messengers with the anointing to break yokes (Matt 10:8). He is intent upon partnering with men to see the gospel advance (“… teaching them to obey all I have commanded you..” which is also why prayer is a non-negotiable in regards to seeing the kingdom come.

Guess that would be a logical response to what I wrote. lol
I mean instead of studying marketing strategies and spending a fortune on coffee and flat screen tv’s to attract people to the service how about going after the anointing.
What if the lost came into the presence of God instead of a what I have seen being passed off as the “cutting edge.”

Oh, I see!
I do agree with your preference as to what should draw people, no doubt!
I think that if we have men and women who are pursuing and responding to the heart of God, we don’t need to find creative advertising strategies. As Ravenhill used to teach: you don’t have to advertise a fire.
We have a church in our city that just put up a billboard along a major highway, essentially promoting a teaching series on “how to pull apart a marriage”. I understand the need we have for teaching on marriage relationships, but if we would teach the sermon on the mount lifestyles and call the Body to firery hearts of gratefulness and adoration of Christ then these issues will get worked on in due order.

Absolutely, that’t how it was done in Corinth by the Apostle Paul. A proviso, however, you’ll have to accept whatever happens with patience, and not switch to plan B if you don’t like either the pace or the volume of the results.

What!? Are you insane!? There’d be no future revenue from writing a book!

@mark – Is that the point of church plants these days? I thought it was only the point of church planting websites!
I cannot imagine a less lucrative niche to target then guys begging for money to follow God.
Then again, there sure are a lot of church planting “resources” out there.

What if the Holy Spirit inspired you to launch a ministry and promised to give you his anointing? What if he gave you a heart and vision to bring the manifest presence of God coupled with signs and wonders to folks who have no hope in this world?
What if he promised that He would send all sorts of weird folks your way if you promised not to judge them no matter what but to love and minister to everyone he sent your way?
What if it is not a ‘numbers’ game and the lord sent you just a dozen for a long while and then maybe 1,5,and 10 thousand or so after a few years?
What if after that He changed your calling and you trained and supervised several thousand others who planted new ministries and each started out with a dozen or so to begin with for a while?
What if you said here am I Lord send me and he only sent you a dozen to start with but He was there and the Heavens were open, would it be enough?

Only seeking the anointing huh? Isn’t that like being radical or something

You never have to advertise a fire. Everyone comes running when thereâ’ a fire. Likewise, if your church is on fire, you will not have to advertise it. The community will already know it. (Leonard Ravenhill)
’nuff said?

Carl:
The first 2 sentences were inspired but the last sentence had a special anointing on it.
