It is leading a segment of a whole generation into the abyss. Basically I think the church is at a major crossroads. God has given everyone a chance to embrace the Holy Spirit in the past century and now the window is closing. Movements like the Emergent church, evengelical ferver for Eastern Orthodoxy, and other such trends are signs of people looking for something "more spiritual" while avoiding the real encounter that has been offered in so many different forms in the history of the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement. Our answer is not to compromise with it, but to reassert and reignite the fire that started Pentecostalism in the first place.
