Fear of Man
February 5th, 2008 by Carl Thomas.I hear so many excuses people have for not reaching the lost that it makes me wonder if we are reading the same Bible and redeemed by the same Blood.
Every time I hear people say they do not move in faith because they do not want to offend people what I really hear is that they are scared of rejection. They would rather a hell-bound world think they are nice then to gather the Lord’s harvest. Jesus would never offend anyone right? Yeah that’s it. That’s why they killed Him. He played nice with everyone.
For those dealing with this let me quote a Bible promise for you:
Luke 21:17-19 ListenYou will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives.

I think it’s sad that many who claim to be Christian haven’t encountered the God who is good enough to share, who exudes love, and who has the power to break every yoke. Is the problem that we’re not being obedient to the Letter, or that we’re not in a responsive, awe inspiring, and, frankly, thrilling, relationship with the Spirit?
I used to shrink away from the scary E word (evangelism) but these days I can’t help myself but want to help people with the love of the Father, the power of the Spirit, and the testimony of Jesus. Engaging in the Great Commission is a source of blessing to me that I was previously denied. You know how much God loves you when you see Him love somebody else. You know how powerful the Spirit’s anointing is when you see Him free someone else. You know how precious the Name of Jesus is when you see somebody else’s life transformed by His testimony.
I must have been barking mad to be a Christian who restricted my encounters with God to me, me, me.

@Mark - I read your blog and am increasingly challenged to reach out even more. From what you share, there is no formula, no script and no set plan. You just use your gifts coupled with the promises of God and reach out to the lost.
Praise God!

Hi Carl!
I’ve seen you have posted on JC Smith site. I Thought I’d nose around. LOL.. I like your blog page. Anyway, just stopin in to say hey!
I believe the “Fear of Man” is one of the biggest obsticles to overcome when going out witnessing. This last year a small team of us started a street witnessing team.. It was awesome! Everytime we went out there were people to witness to. It was awesome! .. But it is that initial moment when you walk up to a complete stranger and strike up a conversation with them, there is a lump in your throat sometimes.. but you go trusting God to give you the words and believing that He prepared your steps for the right people to talk to. Every conversation dosent lead to people weeping and repenting but a few have and the ones that dont I just trust that it was Gospel seed that was planted in their heart. It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to draw.. The saving is up to God..Were just the messengers.
It always has perplexed me why more “church folk” are not out evangelizing. Maybe its fear. Maybe it lack of training, or whatever.. It’s always puzzeled me. Jesus said “Go”. Jesus also said follow me and I will make you fishers of men. He said the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
It’s just always been a driving passion in me to witness and share Jesus!
I heard this spurgeon quote once and it always stuck with me:
“He who never seeks the conversion of another is in imminent danger of being damned himself.”
A strong word.
God bless Carl!
