I have no problem honoring those who were faithful. There was just something wrong there.

You know, I was actually glad to see Todd honor Paul Cain for his stewarding of the vision that Todd is seeing the fulfillment of. Irregardless of Paul's subsequent actions, this was one of the things that he got right.

I had seen Paul last year, right after he began to preach again, and there was a genuine repentance in the guy. I thought there might be hope here. I watched the revival that night and thought, "Ah, there's a problem here." I was not aware that he had stepped out from the restoration process he had submitted to. The fact that he stopped being honest and transparent means trouble.

I personally think it was a good thing to have this red-flag raised publicly so that the body of Christ might beware.

Good viewpoints Carl. God is surely pouring out His Spirit in this hour upon all flesh. However, I believe that it's the desire of the Spirit to remove all flesh that it is poured upon. Too often we see man get his dirty hands all in what God is doing and contaminate it, but God is sovereign and patient - thankfully.

Great post - I'll be back.

slw - I appreciate your comment. Steve Strange pointed out a fairly glaring problem with one meeting but did not cast the whole move into the sea.

I appreciate what God is doing in Lakeland. I believe it to be a move of God. It is also a move of God the He is doing through Todd Bentley. And the administration of the meetings is subject to Todd's personality just like the administration of my meetings is subject to my personality just like the administration of your meetings is subject to your personality.

I look at the average church service and could not imagine Jesus or the Apostles ministering in that fashion. Could you imagine any of them ministering to a room and nobody being healed?

That being said, just because there is a move there does not mean I will be pitching a tent. I have been twice and will probably go again. I heard the testimony of a pastor from new york who has rented an apartment in Lakeland and is living there Monday through Thursday and flying back for his Friday night meetings. He credits the miracles taking place in his ministry to the outpouring.

I am always cautious about these things. I have seen lots of prophets that I genuinely don't think that they are (that goes for apostles, and pastors for that matter). But I am not called to judge them. I see Jesus being exalted and people getting saved, delivered, and healed in Lakeland so for that I rejoice.

Carl,
You are absolutely correct in saying we should eat the meat and spit out the bones. Just because a minister's behavior, or even the general tenor of his or her meetings may be out of order, doesn't mean that what he or she (or even the Holy Ghost in general) ministers there is of the Devil. The Corinthian church was completely out of control, running amok particularly with speaking in tongues, but Paul never disparaged their gifts or equated them to false ones inspired of the Satan. Even fruit inspection (Matthew 7) doesn't reveal anything about the veracity of the miracles that may occur, only something about the character of the minister.

I have been watching the webcasts from Lakeland just about everyday. Regretably, I can't match your enthusiasm for them. They seem out of order to me, and I'm not getting a witness in the Holy Ghost that would countermand that judgment. If I can't see Jesus ministering in that fashion, or the Apostles, or see it instructed in the word, I'm going to assume that it is fleshly excess. That goes regardless of whether it's Benny Hinn, Oral Roberts, Todd Bentley, or even my favorite minister.

After the last two webcasts I've seen, I do sense that God is in there someplace, but suffice it to say, I have no plans to run to Lakeland. I have stayed quiet about this, because there is a lot of folk really being blessed, like yourself, and I have not wanted to put out the Spirit's fire. So, by all means, if you're blessed by it, or are sick and need healing, go see what God can do, but have discerning taste-- just because miracles occur doesn't mean everything is kosher, and just because some things are not kosher doesn't mean everything is of the Devil.
