Weekly Link Dump

May 8th, 2006 by Carl Thomas.

Here is stuff that I found interesting.  some of this is interesting for good reasons, others for not so good and yet more that is to be determined later.  If you need something to look at, have a gander.

These are links that I found interesting. Just because I found it interesting does not mean I agree with it. I find the workings of cults interesting, but only so I can help their members come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. You know what I mean.

Since almost nobody reads this blog it may really not matter.

Extreme Propheticâ’ need for a *conflict report* saddened me deeply upon first reading. But the way they handled it has really inspired me. They remain genuinely humble, open-handed, accountable, forgiving and loving towards the Body - which afterall really IS Jesusâ’ body (I challenge people to think about that for a moment).

Their handling of it has infact proven to be an excellent testimony that has the opposite effect to what _may_ have been intended (Iâ’m trying not to assume or judge the motive behind the allegations). It gives me even greater confidence in Extreme Prophetic - both their character and their teaching (the two go hand-in-hand donâ’t they). (I should confess to being an Extreme Prophetic partner, but I trust that does not mean that I have been, or am, closed-handed / closed-minded when there is feedback from within the Body.)

We need to pray for the Body of Christ. I receive alarmingly regular messages via my contact form on my blog from presumably well-meaning Christians who are disâ’ing some high profile ministry or other. I think Jesus hates it when His own body tries to tear itself limb-from-limb, and I would urge anybody - for their own sake - not to spread ANY allegations that they wonâ’t be able to PERSONALLY substantiate on the day when they will stand before Jesus face-to-face. (Which is not to squash right-hearted, open-minded, right-motivated, querying, and accountability.)

I could not agree more. i was blown away that they would trust the Body of Christ to publicly say, “This is what my accusers say. Take a look for yourself.”

The first time I saw Patricia had just finished up an accountability season and she outlined here layers of accountability and I was blown away. I was transitioning from a season where the leader basically claimed to have God’s cell phone number and needed no other oversight, thank you (never put in those words but had the same effect).

    It really challenged me.

I appreciate much of Patricia’s ministry and have gained from it. Every now and then she will say something that makes me tilt my head like the RCA dog but my understanding is not the basis for biblical ministry.

I am also very reluctant to listen to slander. I wish more of the Body would see it the same way as you.

On that note. Why does so much of modern Christianity think that if you are a blogger than you are automatically allowed to make papal decrees? As if all you need to become an overseeing elder is an internet connection and a blogger account. Storing up wrath for the day of vengeance?
