Day 6

December 12th, 2005 by Carl Thomas.

December 12 2005 Psalm 6, Proverb 6, Acts 6
(Psalm 6) David really wanted forgiveness. Here he is pleading with God to do a mighty work in him. Following Psalm 5, David is not only asking God for forgiveness he is giving Him reasons to grant his request. Life is better when we just walk in righteousness. This back and forth between sin and forgiveness is hard on us. Praise God that He forgives but it is so sweeter when we are not soaking our couch in tears asking for forgiveness.
(Proverb 6) The first thing that the writer talks about is vowing for a friend. I don’t think that we are warned not to help out someone in need. However I think this warns us not to put our name on something unless we are sure that is what we want to do. The underlying assumption is that we will keep our word and if we give our word for someone we will have to live up to that.
(Acts 6) Servant leadership! You don’t actually see this in the church much today. The people were instructed to put people that they trust in charge of the money. They did and the scripture says that the word of God spread and the disciples multiplied greatly. I wonder what would happen if we actually tried to emulate this in the church today.
