Day 3 - Renewal of the mind
December 9th, 2005 by Carl Thomas.December 9 2005 Psalm 3, Proverb 3, Acts3
(Psalm 3) This Psalm was written while David was fleeing from his son Absalom. That has to be remembered when reading what David wrote. In the first stanza David is crying out for help. He is really in a bad place. The second stanza shows him declaring the goodness of God over himself. I believe that in verse 5 he was actually in a depressive state and he said that he awoke because the Lord sustained him. Surely David felt like dieing but God sustained him for His own purposes.
(Proverb 3) In all this chapter the writer is instructing to look outside of ourselves. There is nothing that brings life innate to us. It says that God formed the earth through His wisdom and by understanding He established the heavens. It is only when we are able to tap into this source of life that we can have something worthwhile to contribute. This chapter promises a two fold blessing to the adherent. Not only will you have peace, you can live a life that pleases God.
(Acts 3) Acts 3:19 is my favorite scripture in the NT, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” This chapter really acts out the scriptures that says these signs shall follow those that believe. They healed a man and then preached Christ crucified.
