Day 21

December 27th, 2005 by Carl Thomas.

December 27 Psalm 21, Proverbs 21, Acts 21
(Psalm 21) Sometimes we just need to praise God. The psalmist here is just telling God how good he is. Now I do not think he is doing this because God forgot. I do not even think he was doing this to minister to the Lord. I think he did this to minister to himself. The model here is to declare truth, even if it is to the heavens and it will be established in your heart. If we can get the truth of who God is established in our hearts then we can get it established in the earth. This is the great commission. But we first have to get it established in us.
(Proverbs 21) Pleasure seeking leads to nothing good. Surprise surprise. Seeking pleasure equals seeking destruction. How hard it is to realize that at times. How hard it is to see that something is setting us up for destruction in the midst of pleasure seeking. I wish that this were more self evident. This is so counterintuitive but it is the truth. Our whole lives we are told that hot is bad but sometimes God wants us in the hot and avoid the cold. This is why I need to fast more. I need to get this in my soul.
(Acts 21) Sometimes, even good people will try to get you to not follow God.
