Day 1 - Renewing the mind
December 6th, 2005 by Carl Thomas.Psalm 1, Proberbs 1, Acts 1.
(Psalm 1) I really enjoy this Psalm because it is so clear. This is the first chapter of the Bible that I ever memorized. It is interesting that the scripture contrasts walking in unwise counsel, standing in the path of sinners, and sitting in the seat of the scornful with delighting in the Word. This shows us that the act of delighting in the Word is an action that leads to godliness.
(Proverb 1) I never realized this but this was the second chapter of the Bible that I memorized.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. This proverb has ministered to me for years because it points out how clear the choice between godliness and sinfulness is. €œWisdom calls aloud,€ €œI stretched out My hand.€ God is actively seeking for us to listen and heed.
(Acts 1) The first thing that jumps out at me regarding this chapter is how badley the disciples needed the the baptism in the Holy Ghost. After all the time they spent with Him they still asked if He had returned to restore the kingdom. Surely they interpreted the scriptures to me thus, however it was not to be so. How it must have felt to see Him ascend into the clouds. I wish I could have been there to hear Peter preach, €œ€¦this Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke€¦€
