The Moravian Church

I am going to repost this article in it’s entirety. It was written by Charles Carrin in his latest newsletter.

I am now 75 years old, and as you can imagine, looking back in gratitude to God for all my adult life spent in ministry. There are too many highlights to mention but here is one that stands above many others:

In 1987, on the 250th Anniversary of its’ founding, I visited New Herrnhut Moravian Church on the island of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Being at this mountain-side shrine and the jungle overhanging its cemetery impacted my life in a way I will carry to my grave. There are churches in the Western Hemisphere much older than Herrnhut but none can compete with its’ special history.

In 1737, the first missionaries of the modern era came to this jungle island to bring the gospel to African slaves. When Leonard Dober and David Nitschmann, stepped ashore on St. Thomas, Bibles in hand, they struck the “gong” that awoke a slumbering evangelical church and sent the mission movement around the world. From the vibrations of that gong, in our century alone, more than 100,000,000 new believers in Latin America and the Caribbean have come to Christ. Let me share part of this beautiful story with you. The Shift

I got an email from the New Wine network written by guy who went to a prophetic conference recently.

There were two parts of the email that I found interesting.

The second report was from Paul Keith Davis who mentioned that he considers John Kilpatrick to be his pastor and that they meet regularly to talk and fellowship. John told him how at Brownsville that the anointing of God would fall each night and that when it did everything would noticeably change. The air would seem to change. Colors would appear different. People’s faces would change. The music would change. In a moment, everything would suddenly be taken to another level and God would move in.

John said that they were always concerned that each day would be the last day they would see God move in like this. And often God would come in a different times. Sometimes, He would come in early on during worship, and at other times, it would be late after the message. Fortunately, God came day after day after day.

But one day John saw two balls of light surrounding the podium. He didn’t normally see such things and he asked God what they were. God told them they were His anointings for healings and God told him to get up and release that anointing. John got up but as he started to tell the people what he had seen, suddenly God’s anointing flowed through him extremely strong to the point that he said he was “vomiting” out words of knowledge about healings. Many medical terms came spewing out of his mouth that he had never heard before. And at one point he said a particularly long medical name and when he spoke it a beam of light about a foot long came out his mouth and shot out into the congregation.

Only John saw this light, but it weaved its way over and around people until it struck a lady near her heart, and soon she was screaming. He found out that she had an incredibly rare malady that had the name he had spoken and he learned how she had traveled to the best doctors in the U.S. and in Europe, but nobody could do anything for her. She reached the point where she told God that if didn’t heal her that night that she would rather just die and go to heaven. She ended up healed that night.

And another part about a shift that is happening. Continue reading ‘The Shift’

Iris Ministries Update

Here is a new post on the Iris Ministries Blog. If you don’t know them, get to know them.

Sunday was a beautiful day. Church was filled with singing, dancing Makua and Macondie friends along with many visitors from around the world. I preached from Mark 16:15-18, “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

In Mozambique, we see King Jesus protect us from great opposition as he promised in this passage. During church, several people gave their testimonies. One lady had been full of demons and was told by her witch doctor to eat her family! She was severely sick and could not sleep. She would cut her arm and drink her own blood. When she came to church I would hug her and pray she would know the love of Jesus. Then one of our pastors visited her and burned all her witch doctor fetishes, and almost immediately she was freed and filled with the peace of Jesus. This morning her face was beaming with love, and instead of eating her family, they have become her friends!

Jay West - New Wine

Got this email on the New Wine list.  If anyone knows anything about Jay West and his ministry (including a link to his website and itinerary) I would appreciate a heads up.

First of all - thank you to everyone for your prayers - some of you were contacted again on Sunday when it was determined that I would stay an extra day for an additional service of refreshing - let me begin as there is a lot to share -

I was invited to this Vineyard Church by my good friend - Bill Jackson - Bill wrote the book, The Quest for the Radical Middle - A History of the Vineyard - and he was a good friend and ministry companion of John Wimber along with previously ministering with such folks as Randy Clark and Peter Wagner - the pastor  for the church was also a good friend of John Wimber and had previously ministered with John Arnott -

On Saturday, Bill Jackson taught his seminar on Ministering Like Jesus - this was an excellent presentation with great ministry of which I was blessed to participate in - I would highly recommend this seminar to any church and would be happy to put you in touch with Bill Jackson - or JAX as he likes to be called - For the Omaha folks, I have talked to Jax about bringing him in to lead such a seminar here - it was excellent -

On Sunday morning, the pastor ministered, but I was asked to help pray and to share words of knowledge - the words of knowledge this weekend were very accurate and right on target for many people - I was thoroughly blessed and simultaneously blown away by what the Lord was telling me and showing me - and how He was demonstrating the Kingdom to me - what a joy and honor - Usually for me, I get words of knowledge with just thoughts or an impression - but in addition to that, one of the words came through to me with words that were super imposed over the words of the song on a power point - I could clearly read an additional message and got up and shared it and many came forward for ministry regarding that particular word as it spoke directly to several people.

Read This Post

Here is Jason Ma.  Some people hungry for a move of God do more than pray.

Read this post right now.  Here is a teaser:

At this point, I knew the crowd was hungry to understand the power of the Holy Spirit. I shared with them the only way to live a righteous life was not in our own strength, but in the power of the Holy Spirit. I asked them if they wanted God’s power to live holy and many all over raised their hands. I then told them they would have to surrender their lives to God so they could be filled with the Holy Spirit. With that, I challenged them to pray for the infilling and baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues or any other spirit given manifestation. All over students began to pray with me out loud for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Once they prayed I began to ask Jesus to fill them with the power of the Holy Spirit all over the Bruin Walk.

Behind me there were two brothers from the Latin fraternity who had prayed out loud the prayer. I asked them if I could lay hands on them to pray and they said yes. As a few of our student leaders and I prayed for him to receive the Holy Spirit he closed his eyes and came under the power of God. He looked back up at me and told me that he felt like waves of energy were going through his body. Then he said he could feel his tongue moving and wanting to pray out loud. I knew he was being filled with God’s Spirit!

New Wine Testimony

I am on the new Wine mailing list. Lots of good stuf comes through that. Some not so great stuff also But I didn’t say that. Here is a great testimony that really blessed me:

Today my 8 year old son came home from school and told me that a 7 year old boy was asking him questions about creation. They were riding home on the school bus. The boy was confused about the differences between the big bang theory and my son’s biblical account. My son said he talked softly because he didn’t want to embarass his older sister. He explained how God made the world, and that before God spoke, there was nothing.
In July of 2005 we went to a creation museum in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Since my children attend public school, it had a HUGE impact on my son. We bought a children’s book about dinosaurs and creation - that helped defend creation from a scientific and biblical perspective.
I told my son he should bring that book and share it with his friend on the bus.
My son laughed and said it was like he was preaching a sermon to this little boy. I asked if he knew what it is called when we talk about God with someone. He didn’t. I told him that it is witnessing. Then I gave him examples of times when I have witnessed when he was present. I also told him that when God sets up times and places for us to witness, and we start talking about Him, the bible says the Holy Spirit will come on us with power - He will give us the words to say - and He will touch us.
Then my son shared that on the bus today he got a tingling feeling across the middle of his body while he was talking to the 7 year old boy. He said it’s like you have an itch, but when you go to scratch it, you realize it’s on the INSIDE - and it’s not really an itch.
I described to him the places where I feel this (the anointing) on my head, shoulders and ears (touching his head shoulders and ears as I spoke). He was playing a game on the table, not looking at me. I also told him how my hands get hot sometimes, and how my hands were tingling after church yesterday.
Then he looked at me and said sometimes his hands get hot too, during church, during the sermon or when we are singing worship songs. I told him to tell me whenever that happens. I also told him that my hands get hot sometimes when I am supposed to pray for somebody. My son said he didn’t want to interrupt me when I was listening to the message or to God - so I told him its ALWAYS Ok to tell me if God is doing something. My son said that he didn’t know who to pray for. I told him that if he tells me or another grown-up sitting next to him, we can pray and see if God tells us something.
Then I told him about a child at the Lutheran Renewal Holy Spirit conference in 2005 - my son was there - Rev. Paul Anderson stood behind the boy with his hands on the boy’s shoulders as the child prophesied over the adults - loudly - passionately - my son heard the whole thing. I told my son that nobody will ask him to stand up on his own as a child - we can be there with him - just like the pastor at the conference - and he can relax and let God do whatever he wants to do. My son liked that.
It is kind of wierd for me to be experiencing new things in the Spirit at the very same time my son is experiencing them too. I guess we are learning together. Cool.

My Response

There has been a little controversy about tongues for the last hundred years or so. The fact of the matter is that some people do not regard the Bible as the Word of God and they think they can live however they want regardless what the Bible says.

This sums up the argument about tongues. Some heretics tried to smear Lee Grady’s letter about tongues and I thought i would reply.

Do you think this is to much truth or do you think these milk drinking Christians need to be spoon fed?

PostPosted: Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:55 am Post subject: Reply with quote Edit/Delete this post

I got baptised in the Holy Spirit while taking communion in an Episcopal church. Nobody laid hands on me, my emotions were not worked up, nobody told me to repeat anything. A heat came over my entire body and when I tried to read the prayer that we were saying I could not speak in English. It was sovereign. In fact, the first person I ever heard speak in tongues was me!
So all of you who hold Scripture in such high regard may I quote a verse?

Quote:
You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. (Acts 7:51 NKJV)

Look, if you want to blaspheme the Scriptures, that’s your right. But please do not spread your false teachings on Christian websites.

Lee Grady - Fire in My Bones

This is Lee Grady’s Latest email. I would love to be a part of this.

Glad Tidings From Cairo
I’ll never look at Christmas the same after spending this past week in Egypt with my new Arabic-speaking Christian friends.

Normally I wake up to the sound of an alarm clock at 6 a.m. But today, long before that hour, I was jarred out of a deep sleep by the sound of a Muslim cleric singing his prayers over a loudspeaker near my apartment on the Nile River. Welcome to Cairo, where every morning scratchy-voiced men chant their rote prayers from hundreds of minarets scattered across the dirty skyline. You cannot escape the sound.

Imposing mosques—including a huge one built by the Saudi Arabian government—dominate this city of 18 million people. But if you scratch the surface you will also discover that one of the world’s oldest Christian communities is rooted here. These Christians have lived in the shadow of Islam for centuries, enduring persecution and discrimination. But I am happy to announce that the Egyptian church is headed toward its finest hour.

Owen Hurter - Worship leader

Whatever happened to Owen Hurter after Toronto?

If anybody Googles Owen’s name and comes up with this site, let me know what he is doing.

I went to a conference in Toronto a couple years ago and the the worship was so anointed. By that time I had watched well over a hundred services online and was looking forward to seeing it live. This was what I think was the pinnacle of worship at TACF with Kelly Warren, Owen Hurter, Jeremy Sinnot (who is still there) and Robert Critchy all leaders there. There were times when all of them would be on the worship team at the same time.
A friend of mine went to a conference a few months later and I gave her some money to bribe the soundman to get me a mp3 of worship. The cd’s that Toronto was putting out never had the long worship sets and that’s what I wanted. Unfortunately he wasn’t at that conference.
Anyway, SARS came and Owen went which leads me to, “Where are you?”

Note From Heidi Baker

Thank you again for your amazing love and prayers. Thank you for standing with me and believing with me. I feel so much of the love of God through you. I am still in the hospital on Zyvoxid and Vancomycin IV drips. The Lord has spoken to me, and I’m going to the Soaking in God’s Glory conference. As I’m resting in God’s presence, He is downloading revelation on carrying His glory…

The nurses are coming to me asking for prayer because the presence of God is so strong in my room.

Much, much love in Jesus, Heidi

An Update on Heidi Baker

Dear friends,

I never felt so loved by the Body of Christ. I’m overwhelmed by your kindness. Thank you so much for praying for me. This is the second time I’ve been hospitalized in less than a month. I have been diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus infection. I’m now on the last super-antibiotic. The doctor told me I’ll be in the hospital here for fourteen days. However, I am positive Jesus is healing me, and I’ll be out of here in no time. I feel His love and Presence in my room. I’m going to make some changes in my lifestyle, and take more time to rest.

Ex. 33:14 And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Psa. 62:7 On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

Psa. 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Much love in Jesus, Heidi
