A Note to Pastors With ADD / ADHD

July 16th, 2008 by Carl Thomas.

It seems every other day I see a pastor remarking about his attention deficet or hyperactivity “disorder.”

Galatians 5:22-24

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

We all have issues with the flesh.  But a fruit of the Spirit is self control.  Quit modeling excuses for your people and get a grip on your mind through the power of the Holy Ghost.

How much of pastors’ ADHD is due to the fact that many pastors are totally wired on caffeine all day?

I find it a disturbing fact that pastors who want their people to break free from worldliness, willingly addict themselves to a substance that fights against the power of the Holy Spirit to focus their thinking and attention.
