We say no to yoga

July 14th, 2005 by Carl Thomas.

Tracey belongs to World Gym here in Delray. They recently began having an exercise class for kids Isaac€™s age. Tracey was pretty happy about this because it was in the middle of the day so she would take him to his class and then she would go work out. Anastasia wasn€™t really excited about being in the nursery by herself but it was good for Isaac.

Now Isaac is a bit of an active child so he was not always that great at doing what the rest of the class was doing but hey, the kid is 4. So what if he is running back and forth when they are walking backwards?
The other day Tracey rushed out of the house to get Isaac there on time. She noticed a new woman in the class wearing a unitard but she was not teaching the class so Tracey went to her workout.

A little while later a woman said to Tracey, €œIsn€™t it great that they are doing the new exercises in the kid€™s class?€

Tracey said, €œWhat new exercises?€

€œThe yoga exercises!€

Tracey said, €œOh no!€ and then ran to the workout room.

When she got there the lady had just gotten into some position and began telling the kids to begin the whole chanting nonsense. Tracey rushed into the room and grabbed Isaac and told the lady that Isaac cannot be a part of the class and began to take him out.

When the lady asked why Tracey said, “We are Christian. The spirit behind yoga is kundalini and the only spirit we welcome is the Holy Spirit!” at which point she dragged our son out of the room.

In the gym locker room Isaac was crying and asking why he could not stay in the class with the other kids. She told him that we don’t take part in what they were doing just like we don’t do Halloween.

We are not afraid of these unclean things. I am not worried that if my son sees a pumpkin that he is going to be posessed by the devil or if he stayed in that room that the teacher would have cast a spell on him. But we also are not so naive as to think that allowing our son to participate in some hell borne activity that it’s ok. Our son has a call on his life and we intend to protect that call until he is old enough to protect it for himself. If it means looking like some bible thumping freaks than that’s what it costs.

Jesus is coming back. It looks like a lot of people don’t believe it but we do.
