Indeed Paul said in Romans 15:18-19 that only the proclamation of the gospel that is accompanied by healing, signs and wonders, that display the power of the risen Lord, represents a full proclamation of the gospel: Rom. 15:18-19 (NIV)€” I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done€” by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. [italics and boldface mine]
If you don’t like your feet dirty don’t wear sandals. The parking lot is full of dirt.
There are far less freaks then the last time I went when the meetings were still at Ignited.
You can’t bring food or drinks onto the grounds so eat in the car.
Not sure if this is a full-blown revival or if Todd has been super anointed. Worship is good. The presence of God is there, but when Todd gets the mic the atmosphere in the room shift dramatically.
You do not have to get there early to get a seat. There were at least a thousand empty ones.
You have to get there early to get a good seat.
There are two large tents butted up side by side. Sit in the one that has the stage, even if you have to sit way on the side.
At the far end from the stage there is a huge area that you can be alone. There were at least a dozen kids playing a form of soccer/football/kill the man with the ball/keepaway for at least 5 hours (my son included)
In the same area were girls playing ring around the rosey and chasing bubbles (my daughter included)
Far from the stage is safe for kids.
If you have small ones, bring a pillow and blanket. They can knock out on the floor.
If you are a pastor, check in at the minister’s desk between 5 and 6:30 or you are excluded from any pastor type prayer.
If you worship, press in, are humble and hungry you will “get some.” Sit back and cross your arms and this is much a do about nothing.
If you need a healing, don’t sit in the back and wait for a word from the stage. Be almost belligerent about getting prayer and stay posted near the stage. There are lots of people looking for someone to pray for.
Not all of the prayer staff is anointed.
The a/c really works there. Bring a jacket.
If you want to worship near the altar, get to the altar way before worship.
If you see a young black guy with crazy hair named Joshua who looks like he’s high, tell him I said hi, and give him money. The dude is odd but called and anointed.
God is there.
I hear God. I preach. I see revival in my meetings. I know what the anointing is. I am anointed. Many of my people are anointed. In the 15 hours before I went to Lakeland I preached down the Glory, led a girl to Christ, cast the devil out of 2 people, baptized three people in water and prophesied the Word of the Lord (I am not exaggerating. I literally did these things). I did not need to be revived, renewed nor awakened before going to Lakeland. Yet I have a hunger for God that I did not have 24 hours ago. I will definitely go back.
Pastor Barratt (of whom more below) said that till recently it was difficult to attract to religious meetings. A Salvation Army officer advertised that a man would rise from his coffin and preach the Gospel, but even this did not effectively draw. But now twice a day and every day and week after week these meetings are thronged by enthusiastic crowds, who go out to spread the strange flame, which they are convinced is Pentecostal and Heavenly and Scriptural.
The meetings are liable at any moment to be swept by a wave of spiritual power sweeping through all human arrangements. At times the noise is strangely awesome, almost appalling to an “outsider.”
Some of us ask ourselves the question, how will this affect the Keswick Convention meetings and other gatherings this year? Those who have “Tongues” will be present, and unable and unwilling to control them when moved by the Spirit.
Published in the Apostolic Faith newsletter. Vol. I. No. 6 February - March, 1907 in reporting about the Azusa Street Revival’s effect on Keswick.
The other day I did a little post about El Rey Jesus, a large church in Miami that is in revival. I ripped a little clip from a recent service that had Benny Hinn as the guest minister. It is a little long but gets pretty exciting at the end.
Two things to notice about this video. 1. They have Benny Hinn as a guest preacher. 2. Notice how he is not totally mobbed. Those ushers have this place on lock down!
Every Tuesday we meet outside a bagel shop for a blueberry bagel, lightly toasted with cream cheese, a cranberry bagel, non-toasted with cream cheese, and two large coffees.
We discuss all things Christianity. Here is the funny thing. Nathan is one of those latte coffee serving pastors that is hosting something between the tonight show and a college brainstorming session. (admin note: Please note that this was meant tongue in cheek. They do preach the gospel.) I don’t feel like I have had church if I am not soaked in sweat and without a voice at the end of the night. A few bodies twitchin on the floor is a given.
I think he should get all his people praying in tongues for 15 minutes or so before service. He thinks I should prepare my messages more than a day before the meeting (btw, I already know what I am preachin Friday!).
Yet we are able to put aside methodology because in the end we both want to reach our respective communities for Jesus. I wish more of the heretic police would try to focus on Jesus more. It really makes life more enjoyable.
Our only problem lies in communication. When Nathan has issues, it is my job to rebuke and challenge as needed. When I struggle, I want him to commiserate, yet he rebukes and challenges me.
As a church planter, if you don’t have this, pray that God makes a way.
I have been wanting to post about this for a while. There is a full blown revival happening in Miami that does not get a lot of press in the U.S. mainly because the revival is in Spanish. I often wonder what it is like to visit a move of God that is not in your native tongue. I have watched people travel across the world to “get some” with translation devices in their ears and wondered if I would ever do that. I no longer have to wonder. I live an hour away from a foreign country, Miami.
I first heard about El Rey Jesus listening to a David Hogan sermon one day. He said, “there is this spanish church in Miami. If you are ever down there, you need to go to it.” He went on to tell how the church is seeing miracles and how God enabled them to build their new sanctuary cash. I am down here! I must go.
After calling a friend of mine, I found out that he goes to services at El Rey all the time on the down low. This church is so anointed that Spanish speakers from as far as an hour away abandoned their English churches to join themselves. To me it is an easy choice. I would pick anointed church in my native language over dead religion just talking about the anointing but not doing anything to get it any day of the week.
Building a church without debt is always awesome, but when it is a 7,000 seat facility we are really talking about something.
The church started in Guillermo Maldonado’s living room about 10 years ago and now has multiple services. They are refurbishing their old facility (which they did not have to sell to build their new one) to have an English speaking congregation.
I normally go on Sunday night and generally have no idea what is being said during worship but I go forward and dance with the hundreds who are worshiping themselves silly.
Every time I go I see people healed, delivered and touched by the Holy Ghost. There is this really anointed song that I like that they have sung every time I went. I did not know what they were saying but I would dance to it and find myself singing, “Sube, sube, sube.” Today I found out what it means. I got a little clip of them singing the song and the lyrics are below. By the way, check out this Sunday night crowd.
Sube sube sube nuestra alabanza
Our praise goes up, up, up
Our praise goes up
Con manos extendidas y accion de gracias.
Our hands extended and lifted high
Con todas mis fuerzas alegria y danza.
With all our strength, joy and dance
Doy vueltas en el aire y grita alabanza.
We spin in the air and give shouts of joy
El tabernaculo caido de David hoy en dia lo levantamos,
David’s fallen tabernacle, today we rebuild it
para que los hombres busquen al senor.
So that all men may seek the Lord
Un lugar de danza y alabanza estravagabte.
A place of praise, a place of dance, extravagant
Yo vengo al tabernáculo de David
I come to the Tabernacule of David
Lugar de adoracion
A place of worship
Para todas las naciones
For all the nations
Donde los ciegos y los cojos se sanan
A place where the blind and the deaf all are healed
El pueblo se llena de su unción
The anointing fills his people
Para llevarla a sus casas
To carry with to their houses
Un lugar de intimidad con Dios
An intÃmate place with God
Donde adultos y ninos alaban con libertad
Where the young and the old, may praise with liberty
Pureza y luz que quema,
The purity of light that burns
donde la oscuridad no se puede quedar
where darkness can never remain
Un lugar de revelacion y guia.
A place of revelation and guidance
