Carl, this is definitely a heart piercing moment. I’ve been on both sides of the money field. I have add extra and wasted it, and I’ve had lack and wanted more.
What makes me sad is that most people’s needs are so simple, and would be so easy to meet, but the one’s who could meet it are too greedy to help.
I feel ya Justin. Here is the thing. As Charismatics, we always point to the NT church as a model of practice, yet we leave it to our high church brothers to do the social aspects of the Gospel.
(I understand that most Charismatic / Pentecostal have a food pantry but giving away food that the grocery store was going to throw away does not count. And on that note, we are quick to say that we are the church but when it comes to benevolence, we let the church building do that.)
I want to speak in tongues and prophesy like the early church but do I want to lay everything at the feet of the Apostles so that none may lack?
It is not really an offering if it does not cost us something.
I stumbled upon your site and have been reading for the last week. I checked out the video and am probably not going to sleep tonight. Thanks..
Be encouraged and keep it up
Blessings
