2008 Resolutions

January 7th, 2008 by Carl Thomas.

I know.  You are too spiritual to need a resolution for 2008.  I am not.  Just like Easter is a good time to reflect on the resurrection and Christmas the advent, the beginning of the year is a good time to take a survey of your life and the direction you are going.  So here are a few things I want to resolve for the new year.

  1. I am going to be more hungry this year, both in the spiritual and natural sense.
I heard it said that we don’t see food multiplied in America because Americans are not hungry.  Think about that for a minute.
  2. I am going to preach on the road more this year.
I feel called to bring revival.  I love preaching to the people God has joined to me but I know God has called me to preach on a circuit as well.  I am going to put myself out there this year and try to preach revival more places this year than last.
  3. Be more purposeful in my sanctification.
I want the Holy Ghost to search my heart and show me what needs to get cleaned up.
  4. Pray in tongues more.
I am in revival.  Need I say more?

How does one go about being more ‘puposeful in their santification’ ?

I say purposeful because I want to take a more active role in being sanctified. I want to be more aware of compromise in my life and I would like to root it out. The concern is legalism as if some sort of rigid rules would make me closer to God. That is not the motivator. But I find that every now and then I need to spend a time in prayer and fasting to see where I need to tighten up the reigns.

    Ok, thank you for clarifying.
