JaguarPC Server Fail - Update 2

My webhost crashed and their latest backup was two weeks old. I managed to find some of the lost posts using Google and Yahoo cache and I will repost the ones I have. If you have subscribed to a thread the comments will probably be gone.

I had a great post on Saturday morning. Act like you read it and it was great.

update: I am now trying to rebuild the site. please be patient.

update 2:  I lost everything in my database from easter on.  If you left a comment and i was able to retrieve it from google or yahoo cache, I posted it.  Yahoo refreshed its cache this morning which means I lost a bunch.  Time to learn how to do that Wordpress one click update thing.

Here is Jason Ma.  Some people hungry for a move of God do more than pray.

Read this post right now.  Here is a teaser:

At this point, I knew the crowd was hungry to understand the power of the Holy Spirit. I shared with them the only way to live a righteous life was not in our own strength, but in the power of the Holy Spirit. I asked them if they wanted God’s power to live holy and many all over raised their hands. I then told them they would have to surrender their lives to God so they could be filled with the Holy Spirit. With that, I challenged them to pray for the infilling and baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues or any other spirit given manifestation. All over students began to pray with me out loud for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Once they prayed I began to ask Jesus to fill them with the power of the Holy Spirit all over the Bruin Walk.

Behind me there were two brothers from the Latin fraternity who had prayed out loud the prayer. I asked them if I could lay hands on them to pray and they said yes. As a few of our student leaders and I prayed for him to receive the Holy Spirit he closed his eyes and came under the power of God. He looked back up at me and told me that he felt like waves of energy were going through his body. Then he said he could feel his tongue moving and wanting to pray out loud. I knew he was being filled with God’s Spirit!

The Budding Prophetess

About four months ago my wife and I prayed for a girl to be baptized in the Holy Ghost. I wrote about it here. In the meantime I have seen a complete turn around in this girl’s life. She has become a flame for Jesus! She was a pretty popular girl at school and decided that following Jesus was more important than being in the middle of unrighteousness. Praise God!

This last Wednesday she and another youth got to bring the message at our Wednesday Night meeting. She preached about righteousness. It was powerful. We had an altar call afterward and many youth came forward to deal with issues in their lives.

My wife prayed for her afterward and spoke some encouraging words to her. She sent me a message the other day regarding that prayer,

hey Carl, your wife spoke truth i relized my gift through out the day.. …………..but i dnt know y. im not good at all y does Jesus still love me . Carl i need prayer plz. pray 4 me its personal im so confused on life ………..

My wife and I confirmed to her that there is a gift of prophesy stirring in her. The day she sent me this note, she prophesied to a girl at school much to both of their amazement. She sees her unrighteousness and does not understand why God would choose to use her. (This is so refreshing when compared with people who present themselves as God’s appointed and anointed.)

So now we get to minister the love of God to this girl who cries out to Jesus, “Son of David, have mercy on me.”

And Jesus keeps coming.

Blog Tech Stuf

If you look at my Stats page, you can see the backend of this blog. Most tech questions can be answered by looking at that but I wanted to point out a few other things and try to get some help from others running WordPress.

Here is a toolbar for firefox that lets you search biblegateway! Thanks Heather.

I use the Sage Feed Reader for Firefox to do my blog reading. I have tried a bunch and I think this works best for me. I wish I could find a similar online version.

Here is where I need some help:

I use SecureImage (it generates those blurry letter you have to duplicate in order to post a comment). Trying to read those squigly letters is a pain but it eliminates the spam. I want to use Subscribe to Comments so people can get an email when someone responds to their comment but if I have it and SecureImage installed at the same time SecureImage blocks any comments from posting.

I turned off secureimage for one night and got 114 spam comments! That is not the plan.

Does anyone know how to fix this or can you suggest a similar spam blocking method?

Here is my request for help on the developers page.

UPDATE:  05/02/2006 - I followed Rich’s advice and went with the Akismet plugin.  Works really well!

New Wine Testimony

I am on the new Wine mailing list. Lots of good stuf comes through that. Some not so great stuff also But I didn’t say that. Here is a great testimony that really blessed me:

Today my 8 year old son came home from school and told me that a 7 year old boy was asking him questions about creation. They were riding home on the school bus. The boy was confused about the differences between the big bang theory and my son’s biblical account. My son said he talked softly because he didn’t want to embarass his older sister. He explained how God made the world, and that before God spoke, there was nothing.
In July of 2005 we went to a creation museum in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Since my children attend public school, it had a HUGE impact on my son. We bought a children’s book about dinosaurs and creation - that helped defend creation from a scientific and biblical perspective.
I told my son he should bring that book and share it with his friend on the bus.
My son laughed and said it was like he was preaching a sermon to this little boy. I asked if he knew what it is called when we talk about God with someone. He didn’t. I told him that it is witnessing. Then I gave him examples of times when I have witnessed when he was present. I also told him that when God sets up times and places for us to witness, and we start talking about Him, the bible says the Holy Spirit will come on us with power - He will give us the words to say - and He will touch us.
Then my son shared that on the bus today he got a tingling feeling across the middle of his body while he was talking to the 7 year old boy. He said it’s like you have an itch, but when you go to scratch it, you realize it’s on the INSIDE - and it’s not really an itch.
I described to him the places where I feel this (the anointing) on my head, shoulders and ears (touching his head shoulders and ears as I spoke). He was playing a game on the table, not looking at me. I also told him how my hands get hot sometimes, and how my hands were tingling after church yesterday.
Then he looked at me and said sometimes his hands get hot too, during church, during the sermon or when we are singing worship songs. I told him to tell me whenever that happens. I also told him that my hands get hot sometimes when I am supposed to pray for somebody. My son said he didn’t want to interrupt me when I was listening to the message or to God - so I told him its ALWAYS Ok to tell me if God is doing something. My son said that he didn’t know who to pray for. I told him that if he tells me or another grown-up sitting next to him, we can pray and see if God tells us something.
Then I told him about a child at the Lutheran Renewal Holy Spirit conference in 2005 - my son was there - Rev. Paul Anderson stood behind the boy with his hands on the boy’s shoulders as the child prophesied over the adults - loudly - passionately - my son heard the whole thing. I told my son that nobody will ask him to stand up on his own as a child - we can be there with him - just like the pastor at the conference - and he can relax and let God do whatever he wants to do. My son liked that.
It is kind of wierd for me to be experiencing new things in the Spirit at the very same time my son is experiencing them too. I guess we are learning together. Cool.

He is the Lord that Heals

This past Friday I took off work to take a trip with my wife to Orlando, about three hours away. Several odd things happened on the trip that I would like to share for your testing and comment (If anyone reads this blog).

My kids spent the week with revival mother in law and my wife was to meet here at the halfway point for the switch back. About three days before the trip Revival Wife found out that a childhood friend from New York had just checked into the hospital in Orlando with after having a mild stroke from a brain tumor. We had known about the tumor but thought it was at bay. The stroke was news. I took off work and decided to accompany my wife on the trip. We loaded up the revival-minivan and headed on our way.

The driver’s side electric window stopped working several weeks ago and this made paying tolls a real hassle. Opening the door and reaching around is embarrassing but what can you do? We are praying for revival in our finances but have not seen it as of yet.

About an hour outside of our destination we began to pray for our hospital visit. I was just praying in the Holy Ghost and my wife began to sing. Just as she started the sweetest presence began to fill our van. It was so nice. Just at that moment I looked up and saw a bald eagle flying in front of us. I lived in Alaska for a while and saw hundreds of eagles there so I know what they look like. I had never seen one in Florida before and here it was flying in front of my van as the presence of God filled the van.

I though that this had prophetic significance. Just then we pulled up to a toll plaza. I said to myself, “If His presence is here, than this window will work.” I reached for the electric window and it worked! I immediately gave glory to God!

When we got to the hospital and found our friend, it seemed that half the world came at the same time. First the therapist came for therapy time, than her brother came with his son who seemed indifferent to our being there. Then, the oddest of all.

Our friend had been wheeled into the day room with everyone else. I wanted a more intimate setting but what can you do? As we were sitting there, the brother walks in with a special guest. The father of one of the most famous basketball players in the country. Half the world knows this athlete and he even had a song out about his father so this guy is more famous than the average sports parent.

I wasn’t impressed and in fact thought this was another distraction. I shook the man’s hand and said, “God bless you.” To which he said, “He already has.”

huh?

The man then goes into a self help pep talk about positive mental attitude and belief in self for the next 15 minutes followed by a long conversation with the brother about the ills of the American social and criminal justice system. It was getting late, I wanted to see my kids, I was not interested in becoming a groupie. I felt that it was not time to pray for the woman because of the lack of faith in the room so I waited, and waited, and waited.

Finally God had the woman moved back into her room and the brother continued with his love fest of the star’s father. We were able to serve the Lord’s Supper on Good Friday and pray for her healing.

I was hoping that when we were done she would be jumping and leaping and praising God. She didn’t. She was speaking more clearly and we could easily understand her for the first time. As we left we were a little dismayed that we did not see more power in action but we know that we did our part and that the rest was up to God.

We shared the elevator back down with a couple that looked distraught. I did not get a word but the tears in their eyes moved me. I asked them if I could pray for them. After they said I could. They were there because the wife has breast cancer. I do not know if she was getting chemo or if she just found out but I knew I had to pray.

I laid hands on her and it felt like all of heaven rushed into that elevator. We got to their floor but I just kept praying. We got to the ground floor, the doors opened to a bunch of people and I just kept praying. They were respectful and stayed off the elevator. I cursed the cancer and declared healing. I prayed that the husband would be encouraged and have the strength for this season.

I don’t know if this has happened to the reader but I got so hit by the Holy Ghost that I could barely walk! I stumbled out of the elevator. Bid them farewell and God Bless you and stood in the parking garage trying to find my bearings.

It felt like that was the whole reason I was in Orlando. That was why I had to wait so long to pray for our friend. I have no idea who that lady was but I would bet that not only is she healed, but God is going to use that family in ministry.

Weekly Link Dump

Here is stuff that I found interesting.  some of this is interesting for good reasons, others for not so good and yet more that is to be determined later.  If you need something to look at, have a gander.

These are links that I found interesting. Just because I found it interesting does not mean I agree with it. I find the workings of cults interesting, but only so I can help their members come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. You know what I mean.

Since almost nobody reads this blog it may really not matter.

He is Risen

“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

Tithing Comandments? Where is Your Faith?

I tithe. Why? God told my wife and I to. That’s the whole reason. Is it part of the law? Is the law passed away? Does it predate the law? Did / would Jesus tithe? I don’t know and don’t care.

I tithed for years out of obligation. I was threatened with a curse if I did not. Then I tithed because I wanted to leverage God’s blessings. Then I stopped. I realized that neither of these reasons were in God’s nature toward me, His son.

Then something funny happened. I asked God. He challanged me to tithe. He did the same with my wife. So now we tithe. That simple. I hear all kinds of stuff from offering sermonettes. Some of it is biblical, some is borderline at best. None of it has an impact on me. I have heard God.

Should you tithe? Don’t give me your 15 scriptures that back up what you have already decided to do. Tell me what God told you.
