Note From Heidi Baker

Thank you again for your amazing love and prayers. Thank you for standing with me and believing with me. I feel so much of the love of God through you. I am still in the hospital on Zyvoxid and Vancomycin IV drips. The Lord has spoken to me, and I’m going to the Soaking in God’s Glory conference. As I’m resting in God’s presence, He is downloading revelation on carrying His glory…

The nurses are coming to me asking for prayer because the presence of God is so strong in my room.

Much, much love in Jesus, Heidi

Another Disturbing Un-Testimony

I Just Lost Faith In Faith
This was my first article for Freethought Today. It ran in the June 1984 issue.

Religion is a powerful thing. Few can resist its charms and few can truly break its embrace. It is the siren who entices the wandering traveler with songs of love and desire and, once successful, turns a mind into stone. It is a Venus fly trap. Its attraction is like that of drugs to an addict who, wishing to be free and happy, becomes trapped and miserable.

But the saddest part of the dependency is the fact that most participants are willing victims. They think they are happy. They believe religion has kept its promises and have no desire to search elsewhere. They are deeply in love with their faith and have been blinded by that love–blinded to the point of unquestioning sacrifice.

I know this is true because I was one of Christ’s disciples for over nineteen years, and my subsequent self-excision was/is traumatically painful.

My Dad was a professional musician during the 1940’s. At one of his concerts he met a female vocalist and, as things go, they went (lucky for me). They got married and, when I was a toddler, they both found true religion. Dad threw away his collection of original Glenn Miller recordings (ouch!), turned his back on his former “sinful” life and enrolled in seminary to become a minister. He didn’t finish because of the strong demands of raising three boys. But he lived his faith through his family and through lay ministry in local churches.

My folks’ spirituality was so strong that they often found it hard to find a church that met their needs. So we church-hopped for many years. I can’t remember all the churches, but we were Baptists, Methodists, Nazarenes, Assemblies of God, Pentecostals, fundamentalist, evangelical, “Bible-believing” and charismatic.

An Update on Heidi Baker

Dear friends,

I never felt so loved by the Body of Christ. I’m overwhelmed by your kindness. Thank you so much for praying for me. This is the second time I’ve been hospitalized in less than a month. I have been diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus infection. I’m now on the last super-antibiotic. The doctor told me I’ll be in the hospital here for fourteen days. However, I am positive Jesus is healing me, and I’ll be out of here in no time. I feel His love and Presence in my room. I’m going to make some changes in my lifestyle, and take more time to rest.

Ex. 33:14 And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Psa. 62:7 On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.

Psa. 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Much love in Jesus, Heidi

The Kingdom of God consists of power

1 Cor 4:18-20

Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.

Urgent Prayer Request

Dear Friends and Intercessors,

I just received this email from Rolland Baker, who just arrived back in
Mozambique:

“I finally got home to Pemba after five flights, but on arrival had to turn around immediately and take Heidi to an emergency clinic in Maputo, and now we are on our way to a hospital in South Africa. She has an extremely dangerous, life-threatening staph infection that has re-surfaced after she was hospitalized with the same thing three weeks ago in Malaysia. This type of staph is highly drug-resistant, and in Malaysia was affected by only one kind of antibiotic in the world. Heidi has been taking that antibiotic for these three weeks, but now the infection has flared up severely and is out of control. She has had this infection a number of times over the years, passing it on to me once. Each time it gets worse and harder to treat. Now it is spreading quickly and she is in great pain. We and all at our base in Pemba are praying, and now we are asking for our friends around the world to pray and join with us in trusting Jesus with all our hearts.”

Please go with us before His throne for healing and victory. We will keep you posted on developments.

Together in His Love,

“Judgement is at hand” they think

As we see more natural disasters lately all the judgement proclaimers are finding more reasons to support their judgement. Here are a few:

  • HURRICANE KATRINA DESTROYS NEW ORLEANS DAYS BEFORE “SOUTHERN DECADENCE”
    • “Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city,” stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. “From ‘Girls Gone Wild’ to ‘Southern Decadence,’ New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. From the devastation may a city full of righteousness emerge,” he continued.
  • So God drowns poor black people because rich white college kids get drunk and half naked in bars they do to own.

  • Farrakhan: God punishing U.S. for Iraq with storm
    • Speaking to a large crowd in South Philadelphia last night [August 31, 2005], Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan suggested that the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina was divine punishment for the violence America had inflicted on Iraq.
  • So God hates the leaders in Washington so much he kills people in Mississippi?

  • Charles Colson: God allowed Katrina to happen to bring attention to lack of preparation for terrorist attack
    • COLSON: Katrina gave us a preview of what America would look like if we fail to fight the war on terror. “Did God have anything to do with Katrina?,” people ask. My answer is, he allowed it and perhaps he allowed it to get our attention so that we don’t delude ourselves into thinking that all we have to do is put things back the way they were and life will be normal again.
  • So this was all a test?

  • Did God send Katrina as judgment for Gaza?
    • “Katrina is a consequence of the destruction of [Gaza's] Gush Katif [slate of Jewish communities] with America’s urging and encouragement,” Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Lewin, executive director of the Rabbinic Congress for Peace, told WND. “The U.S. should have discouraged Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon from implementing the Gaza evacuation rather than pushing for it and pressuring Israel into concessions.”
  • God was mad that the Israelis gave away some land so He sent a hurricane to Alabama. Now I get it.

  • Kuwaiti: ‘The terrorist Katrina’ is a ’soldier of Allah’
    • “When the satellite channels reported on the scope of the terrifying destruction in America [caused by] this wind, I was reminded of the words of [Prophet Muhammad]: ‘The wind sends torment to one group of people, and sends mercy to others.’ I do not think — and only Allah [really] knows — that this wind, which completely wiped out American cities in these days, is a wind of mercy and blessing. It is almost certain that this is a wind of torment and evil that Allah has sent to this American empire.

I mean God hates America.

Matthew 16:1-4
1And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. 2He answered them,[a] “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. 4An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed.

You cannot find a 20 year span in the history of any nation and not find a disaster. From that you will either discern that God is the God of hate, or “perilous times will come.”
