Joe Grima says that he is against Turkey joining the EU
Thursday, 30 June, 2005

“The executive of the European Commission meets in Brussels this Wednesday to decide whether to adopt a plan for opening membership talks with Turkey. If the draft negotiating mandate is approved, the document will form the basis for entry negotiations with the government in Ankara. Formal discussions are due to start in October. The European Commission’s mandate must be approved unanimously by all of the 25 member states. But political pressure is growing for a suspension of Turkey’s EU entry after French and Dutch voters rejected a proposed EU constitution a month ago.” Deutsche Welle

Dangerous Incompetence - New York Times

Dangerous Incompetence - New York Times

By BOB HERBERT
The president who displayed his contempt for Iraqi militants two years ago with the taunt “bring ‘em on” had to go on television Tuesday night to urge Americans not to abandon support for the war that he foolishly started but can’t figure out how to win.

The Bush crowd bristles at the use of the “Q-word” - quagmire - to describe American involvement in Iraq. But with our soldiers fighting and dying with no end in sight, who can deny that Mr. Bush has gotten us into “a situation from which extrication is very difficult,” which is a standard definition of quagmire?

More than 1,730 American troops have already died in Iraq. Some were little more than children when they signed up for the armed forces, like Ramona Valdez, who grew up in the Bronx and was just 17 when she joined the Marines. She was one of six service members, including four women, who were killed when a suicide bomber struck their convoy in Falluja last week.

Burglary suspect dies after use of Taser by Miami police

MIAMI — A man police suspect was under the influence of drugs and breaking into homes died Wednesday after officers used a Taser stun gun to subdue him.

The unidentified man died about 5 a.m. at Parkway Regional Medical Center after going into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital and exhibiting symptoms consistent with a drug overdose, said Miami-Dade County Detective Joey Giordano.

Police said the Taser was used after the “extremely combative” man became enraged and charged at officers, who had confronted him in a tool shed in the backyard of a home in the Miami Gardens section. Police were summoned when a homeowner said a man “exhibiting extremely bizarre behavior” tried to gain entry into his house and then was heard running around on his roof.

The homeowner then saw the man try to break into his neighbor’s house, then heard “loud noises and screams” coming from next door, Giordano said.

Tasers, which stun people using electrical current, are used by some 6,000 police agencies nationwide. Their safety has been called into question by critics, but manufacturer Taser International of Arizona insists they are safe.

More than 100 people have died in the United States and Canada since 2001 after being shocked with a Taser, including several in

CONGO AND BEYOND!
Rolland and Heidi Baker

SOMEWHERE IN CENRAL AFRICA, 27 April 2005
Dark rain clouds loom on the northwest horizon, directly in our flight path. Row after row of mountain ridges stand before us. We have no weather briefing. We have never flown this route before. We are heading for yet another country, but do not have a landing permit, or visas. No airlines fly where we are going, and the journey by road through the forest below is long and dangerous. Air traffic control in Kigali clears us to eight thousand five hundred feet on track, releasing us in calm tones to the unknown.

You CAN Hear From Heaven!

If you don’t think someone wants to talk to you then you probably won’t go near them. God created you in His image. He started out in the Garden of Eden fellowshipping with His creation, and He wants your fellowship too. Scripture says that He thinks good thoughts toward you that He wants to give you a hope and peace for your outcome.
